Specific changes implemented to reduce inventories include conversion to KANBAN (and Continuous Flow where applicable)and implementation of Lean/JIT principles, coupled with sophistication of planning and control processes (MAPICS/MRP and ERP), plus facility changes affecting purchased quantities and negotiating techniques (such as systems contracting).
